I prefer Booking.com for on the day reservations as for a lot of the Airbnb places you have to send a request and wait for confirmation although as has mentioned above some are instant reservation.

For me, Booking.com is my go to place. I search an area, sort the list in to cheapest first and then start scrolling.
Anything that scores less than an 8 is generally skipped over.
Look at the scores and reviews and make your choice.
Most don’t require payment until arrive.

That works for us anyway.

With booking.com you can also stipulate parking, swimming pool etc.
Swimming is sometimes nice but I definitely want off road parking when I’m somewhere new. Can you tick that button on the AirBnB search?
