If I remember rightly in ‘India the Shimmering Dream’ they take a Broom handle Mauser. Although they seem to have managed without the modern ‘essentials’ of a sat nav and mobile phone.

Yeah, I thought exactly that. One is allowed a pipe and tobacco but how is a chap supposed to get by beyond civilisation without a wee dram of fortification - for medicinal purposes of course ?
