France, The Picos, and North West Spain

Post by Scott_rider »

Hi Guys. Thank for all the information earlier in the year about routes down to North West Spain and The Picos. I just got back from a fantastic 10 day trip. We did 3,100 miles, completely shagged a brand new set of tyres, and got 1 speeding fine but it was absolutely awesome. We stayed off main roads and the route was basically through 8 national Parks in France down to Pamplona in Spain, and through 3 or 4 parks there, then back on the ferry from Santander. The route went through the these Parks, as follows:

Caps et Marais d'Opale...Montagne de Reims...Foret de Orient...Morvan...Pilat...Cevennes, absolutely fantastic roads on a fast bike 8-)...Grand Causses, awesome 8-) ...Pyrennees, superb 8-) ...De Fuentas Carriones, the stand out section of the trip. The best fast riding I've ever, ever done. Like a giant Scalextric track :D (not big, and not clever, but simply fantastic)...Picos, superb in every respect and lived up to expectations 8-).

8-)

Thanks Scott-Rider

All useful information I have been to some of the places without realising it, but we are hopefully doing something similar next year and will definitely try to pick up the De Fuentas Carriones, we have done the Picos a couple of times but i don't think we have been as far over as this

Thanks for sharing

For easy navigation of the relatively small "De Fuentas Carriones" area, just draw a triangle between "Guardo" in the south west, "Cervera de Pisuega" in the south east, and "Potes" in the north. All of it is simply superb, fast riding terrain with spectacular views 8-) . Well worth a few hours visit if you're in the Picos area 8-) .
