Euro Breakdown Cover....Again

Post by Heff »

The Batbike will going to The Picos, Spain in a few weeks 8-)

For the last few adventures, I had the BMW Euro Warranty so didn't need any extra cover.

This year however, I need to source a new breakdown policy as I didn't extend the BMW warranty.

Need to cover 10 days in the Euro Zone and MUST have repatriation cover included.

I already have UK/Ireland cover with the bike policy but their Euro breakdown cover is really expensive

Looking for something that has the best all round cover, so not necessarily the cheapest ££ ;)

Best compare cover I've found is Start Rescue at £58.

Any recommendations, horror stories or companies to avoid are welcome :?:

Thanks in advance

Try these
https://www.eurobreakdown.com/?r=9&gcli ... HomeMobile

Had a policy with them a couple years back. Didn't have to claim so can't say how good they would of been.in an emergency
Start rescue wouldn't cover my bike as it was too old🤪🤪

£58 for 10 days cover...expensive? Really?
Have a look what repatriation would cost without cover....then recalibrate what expensive is.

£5.80 a day.....a shade over 24 pence per hour....surely in the scheme of the trip....

Just my take on it.

If you breakdown without cover ask how much it costs... Minimum 100 euro...

Britannia Rescue = LV. Covered my BM Airhead when I went to Europe on it. And one benefit is that they'll repatriate your bike if you have an incident with it, many say it's the insurance companies job.

Agree with OnHellas. That's not expensive. Just the charge to get recovered at night off a french autoroute to the nearest garage can be eye-watering, and you still have to get your car/bike home.

Personally I've always taken the risk and during my sports-touring days I never bought special insurance/breakdown cover. But I also know that I would have been clobbered financially if the worst had happened.

If you are minded to cover yourself, then 58 quid seems a bargain to me...

Folks,

I'm not complaining about the cost of the cover at £58, I'm just looking to see if I can get the same cover for less £

I would much rather pay £58 (or more) to have the all singing, all dancing, cover all policy and not need it, as opposed to a cheaper policy with less cover.

I also have to pay an additional £20 premium on my travel insurance as the bike is over 125cc, but I'm not complaining about that either.

My "free" travel insurance with my bank only covers me if I ride my bike out to where I'm going to be on holiday, if I fly, then ride a bike, I wouldn't be covered. So extra insurance bought.
