Re: French 'Canicule' (heat-wave)
We've got 40 in the shade here, Stevey. And the pool, which I only filled up 2 days ago, is already at 31. Must be horrible in the cities.
I re-filled all the horses' water bins out in the fields earlier (they're inside in the cool of the barn until 9pm) and I bloody roasted out there. It feels like 45 degrees out in the direct sun - wouldn't be surprised. I stood in one bin while filling the next and just kept dunking my head in them. The well-water is still lovely and cold.
I don't think you could pay me to get on a bike right now, although some GS-riding nutters in full gear on UK plates rode by earlier today! Mad dogs....etc

Must be something wrong with my thermometer, 'only' 32 here in south Haute-Vienne, did feel stinking hot though and very humid as I was hosing the baked-on Aveyron mud off the DRZ.
No definitely not biking weather, glad I got home yesterday, I actually hopped onto the motorway for the last 2 hrs something I wouldn't normally do but figured the wind blast would keep things tolerable.
My re-hydration aid of choice is now Hoegarden biere-blanche, lovely stuff, only discovered it recently..

That's mental Phil. Get outta there. You need some of Nick's Hooegardens - one of my favourites too. Although things can go badly wrong after 5 or 6 of those.
