Insurance at Norway/Russia border.
I will be riding from London to Nordkapp then onto Murmansk down to St Petersburg soon . I just want to find out if it is possible to purchase motor insurance at the border or nearby it ?? I've read countless times online that you can .... but these seem to be at other border crossings into Russia. Interested to know if anyone has crossed the northern border from Norway into Russia and if so the insurance situation?? Any help/ advice would be much appreciated !!

Re: Insurance at Norway/Russia border.
I crossed from Estonia into Russia last year with insurance I purchased from www.tourinsure.com
Based in Hamburg , very easy to deal with .
It saves time, money and hassle at the border if you arrange from the comfort of your own home.

Re: Insurance at Norway/Russia border.
Can’t help with your insurance dilemma, but when you get to the border, on the E105 (it’s not open 24hours), take a left and have a bimble up the 886, it’s a dead end but it runs up the border with Russia ( a surprisingly narrow river) and I found it more satisfying than reaching Nordkapp.
The list of things you’re not allowed to do written on the back of this sign makes quite interesting reading.
Don’t throw things into Russia
Don’t try and attract the attention of anyone in Russia
You ARE under surveillance and if we accuse, or suspect you of doing something then you ARE guilty!

Definitely might give that a look - looks pretty amazing !!! How was the border crossing up there ?? Any problems or was it quite smooth ??SHarper wrote:Can’t help with your insurance dilemma, but when you get to the border, on the E105 (it’s not open 24hours), take a left and have a bimble up the 886, it’s a dead end but it runs up the border with Russia ( a surprisingly narrow river) and I found it more satisfying than reaching Nordkapp.

Re: Insurance at Norway/Russia border.
We didn't cross the border.
Those pictures were taken at about 1 o’clock in the morning, the border was closed and we were going the other way, toward Nordkapp, we’d just taken a detour to have a look. If you're camping you could pitch up at the end of the 886, we were stopping in ‘hytte’ (huts) didnt book any in advance but managed to find one every night. The night we went up here, we were stopping in a hut in an area/town called Neiden, it was the first day of the salmon fishing season.

The link to the insurance company doesn’t seem to work. For me anyway.
Russia is on the list for us, maybe next year. A plan is already taking shape, in my head at least.

I've not got any connection to them but have used them for Morocco, Georgia and the non-EU countries
