I’m with you on the previous 99% Mark, but while we’re here.....
Today has been an indoors day as it’s pouring with rain. Tomorrow forecast is better so The City is calling again.

I’m glad that my ramblings may have given you a bit of inspiration. I’d definitely recommend North America. It’s food not so much.

That last sentence is so so true unless you dig deep for higher end restaurants.
Being a vegetarian wouldn’t be much fun over a long period like you had. A person can only eat so many Caesar Salads.
We gave up on fast food after the first week and just stocked up with rolls, meat, cakes and drinks in the morning then shredded the credit card in nice restaurants at night or cooked in where we could. We had a few places with kitchens.

There is a bit of me that would like to see New York but about 7 hours would set me reeling and I’d want to escape all the people. We have had 7.00am walks in London, Paris and Rome and they turn into wonderful places as they start to wake up.
There used to be a trip to New York where you flew out so you could sleep, have a night tour of the city and then fly back sleeping so you didn’t get out of kilter.

Yesterday was Monday. Another trip in to NYC. Not wanting to go over old ground instead of shuttle bus, skytrain, train we went Über, ferry, walk, ferry.

The Über was the Über, the ferry got us close enough to The Statue of Liberty to get a photo, and avoid the full on tour of said Statue, the walk was part of the 8 miles our feet would take us and the second ferry got us to Dumbo.
Dumbo is where the Brooklyn Bridge starts or ends depending on which side of the river you are, but as you’re walking towards the city the skyline is more impressive....if you like cities.

We also went to the site of The World Trade Centre to see the memorial. It always feels a bit strange to want to go to places that are there to mark an atrocity. I’m never sure if taking photos is the right thing to do. I did take one this time.

From there it was walk, eat, walk, drink (non alcoholic) and walk a bit more.
People watching and dodging the crowds. Listening to the sirens of emergency services, paying over the odds for drinks at the station.
Train, AirTrain, shuttle bus and back to our room.

All in all a good day out. But we’re done. Enough city sightseeing.

Today the excitement is washing some clothes and making sure that we’re set for tomorrow’s flight. We think we are.

Two happy people, two pairs of tired feet.

We had the same feeling in Oradour, where the Germans massacred the French villagers.
The village was just left as it was a d is gradually decaying.
It was a spooky place, no bird song and not very busy. I just couldn’t bring myself to take photos - it seemed wrong.
Ground Zero is different as it is a modern memorial so you were justified.

That’s it, we’re back in the UK. Fairly tired after taking the shuttle bus, AirTrain, Train, Subway and another AirTrain to get to JFK airport. Check out was at 11am and our flight was an overnighter arriving at Gatwick at about 9.30 this morning. We then took another two different trains and a taxi to get us to our home for tonight in Canterbury.

So, thanks go to anyone that has read this ongoing report of a truly fantastic extended trip.
We’ve been put up, or put up with, some very generous people along the way too.
Marc and Ang in Colorado, George and Shirley at Mabel lake and again in their Edmonton home on our eastward part of our journey.
Troy, Tracey and MaryLee and of course our very own gun instructor, Chuck.
Peter and Karin in Ontario.

As usual Roddy and Kathy at MotoFreight have given excellent advice and service for bike shipping.
Bernie at Island BMW ensured that our bikes were brought up to scratch by the workshop chaps there.

We also feel grateful to both the US and Canadian governments for letting us bust their countries....I know that it’s a privilege, not a right.

We are both very pleased that both of our bikes stayed happy for the near 40,000 miles covered.

As I said at the top of this entry, that’s it....for now.

Two happy people, two happy bikes.
