If anybody feels like doing this option there is also a twice weekly Brittany Ferries Cork to Santander service....from Scotland or north of England a ferry to Belfast or Dublin and then Cork Santander is very feasible. Belfast to Cork or Dublin to Cork is all motorway.

I haven't used it but friends who have used it speak highly of it. I do use Brittany Ferries Cork Roscoff service and it uses the Pont Aven.
