I’ve got to ride to Putney this week, and having not riden or driven to London for years, a quick internet search suggests I won’t be liable for either congestion or emissions charges. Can anyone confirm I’ve read that right?
I’ll be on my 2013 Triumph Explorer.

Yep you've got it right Spike. The Congestion Charge zone and the LEZ are different things, but neither of them apply to motorbikes.

I briefly worked for the consultancy Mouchel Parkman which developed the LEZ for the GLA / Transport for London. Your trip to Putney will be fine.

Yes exempt at the moment but I believe it will change soon.
I travelled from West mids to Notting Hill Gate last year. Parking is cheap I think I paid £1 for the morning one of those pay by mobile scheme's. Just check out parking locations and costs before you go if you need parking.

Honestly... London isn't scary at all; it's quite fun really playing chicken with the cabs and buses!.... It's a just one of the many myths perpetuated by the media when they haven't got anything good to say about anything!

Thanks for the info/advice guys. Had a successful ride up and back today. Stayed dry, kept out of trouble and the bike never left my sight.

For future reference :
The Camden side of the West End offers free parking on MC bays, Westminster charges a quid a day (or a year for around a hundred £). Ironically bikes are allowed free parking inside Westminster Car parks at all times. After April 8 If your visiting the West End ULEZ zone on a non compliant bike , just park in a bay outside the zone (properly locked and covered) and get a tube or bus one stop (or even walk).

The big crunch for most will be when ULEZ is extended out to the North and South circulars .("Most" being all the hipsters who commissioned expensive retro rebuilds I guess ? )

Maybe useful for some, not sure if other manufacturers are the same but I believe some bikes pre the cut off year can be exempt if emissions are low enough.
if you email Honda and ask for a certificate of conformance, they'll send you one in the post free of charge. That, together with the V5, should get you exemption from the charge.
