Going to the NW200 this year, not been since 2013.
The initial plan was for a group of us to get a caravan in Portrush from Thursday to Sunday, but drops outs and call offs have meant this has had to be shelved. So now me and my mate have got a couple of days free prior to the racing to see a bit of the country before we need to be in Portrush.
Any suggestions for places to see/stay/roads to ride?

The Antrim coast road, with torr head. Nip across the border (hard or soft then) into Donegal and ride the n56 or the north part of the wild Atlantic way. Nip on down to Galway.

Cairnryan to Belfast on the Thursday - probably the same boat as the masses! Think it gets in about quarter to 2.
My first thoughts were to head down to Galway and work back up, through Connemara and head north stopping round about Letterkenny on the Friday night? only leaves us a couple of hours on the Sat morning to get to Portrush for the racing.

Don't make your final decision until you are near the day and know the weather. Any of the areas are brilliant, Torr Head and Torr Head drive are fantastic in good weather, so too is County Down and the Mournes or further west Donegal or Mayo/Galway. I would go for the one that's got the best weather when you arrive, you wont be disappointed.

As above be guided by the weather. If you do choose the Co Down coastline, once you leave the ferry make a bee line for Newry via the M1 and A1, then follow the Mourne Coastal Route to Warrenpoint, Rostrevor, Killeel & Newcastle where you could stay for the 1st night (plenty of accommodation to choose from here). Next day continue to follow the Mourne Coastal Route to Belfast, via Strangford, Portaferry, Donaghadee & Bangor. At Belfast you can then continue North on the Causeway Coastal route up to Portrush. As also mentioned include the Torr Road between Cushendun & Ballycastle.

We do that entire route in September.....its really fantastic and great choice of accommodation around Newcastle/Kilkeel where you get the sun rising over the sea.Flintlock wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 3:09 pm As above be guided by the weather.
