Recommend me a campsite in Betws-y-Coed

Post by Heff »

A group of us on 6 bikes are heading to the ABR Festival in July. 8-)

Arriving in Holyhead on Thurs evening 11 July, so looking at a group booking in a recommended campsite in Betws-y-Coed for 1 night.

This will allow us to have a nice leisurely and scenic ride to the Festival on Friday.

Any recommendations or comments gratefully received

Thanks in advance ;)

A little further south but good also with a B&B, good hosts and a good pub nearby. http://bwch-yn-uchaf.co.uk/

I am feeling tempted to do this one too. Let me know if you are travelling from Dublin.

Now one may laugh but I discovered now I got my little trailer and done 1,500 miles with it over the last 2 weeks to find it makes no difference to handling, riding or anything. It takes all of 10 minutes to get sorted for a trip so easy to plan and do trips now. My stuff lives in a few plastic storage crates and just pop them in the trailer hook up and off we go. Is not that I have a lot, more that it took Tetris skills to get it down to 2 panniers. What really sold me on this mode of travel was coming back from France last June met a few guys coming up to do the Wild Atlantic Way and had a trailer. So we had a good look.....bottom of the trailer was totally stocked with wine for their trip. They referred to it as ballast. Even better.........no extra cost on the ferries.........

But my experience in this part of Wales is bad. Its so nice there that the majority of times I have gone like this I never made it to my final destination. A summer breakfast sitting by the bridge over the river at Betys y Coed put one trip out the gap, the roads are out of this world too. Not so vey fast so no issues with the Heddlu either.

Y Giler Arms at Pentrefoelas is a pub with campsite, restaurant and B&B just off the main A5 about 5 miles from Betws Y Coed.

Guys, thanks for your helpful comments, but we have went with Hermons recommendations, primarily because of the river on site, which appeals to the few 'Fishermen' in our group.

Thanks again.
