Always try to get away at least once a month, whether it's just a few days in the UK or over the water, busy planning 2019 now, which will definitely have another trip to Jax Shack, may have to sneak up from Spain this time
The most important thing about your trip's is ensure you have sensible riding companions

Yep, I did the Frances too from St Jean, in June. My feet were the worst which surprised me as I’d never had bad feet before.OnHellas wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 5:10 am
I walked the Camino last year from St Jean Pied de Port, I didn’t have a foot like yours though!!
This year we walked part of the Portuguese Camino, from Porto to Santiago.
Currently riding around OZ.
How’s South America going? Photos and a ride report would be good....
South America is gorgeous now, Patagonia has to be seen to be believed. I’ll do a RR when I’m finished as we’re bumbling along slowly. I’ll drop the odd pick in.
How’s Oz. It’s on my list.

Walked the Camino 4 years ago, rode round northern Spain this year and went looking for fictional gold at Sad Hill Cemetery.

Earlier in the year we went to the ABR Ireland Rally which was great as usual. Then in June we traveled round Central and East Europe visiting 17 countries along the way on an epic adventure. ABR Festival in Banbury mid summer and recently a long weekend in Scotland during storm Callum.
Cracking year on the bike and looking forward to the Devon rally in December to finish the year

Re: Where did you go in 2018?
Haven't done as much as I wanted on the bike this year (seems to be a theme for many of us) as have had a busy year travelling on those aeroyplanney thingys but did manage to get back to North coast of Scotland a few weeks ago on the AT DCT for a few days, took the Guzzi V7in the back of van for 3 week trip down through Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy , Corsica and then back up through France. It was so damn hot though that we mostly only used the bike in the evenings but it did make the trip (Our 30th wedding anniversary) extra special.
One of the best bikes trips I ever had though was 6 days in June when my lad and I rode down to Limousin and back, he on his MT03 single (he passed his A2 test last year) and me on the Guzzi V7. The priviliege of riding with my Son is one I never tire of and to get nearly a week away just the two of us is something I will remember for a long time to come.
Apart from longer trips I've been riding the damn Enfield wayyyyy too much, loads of Sunday afternoon potters out to farm shops with the wife on the back, very pleasant but not really riding. Looking forward to getting the AT out on my own now the weathers turning ; )

Two trips to Devon from the Midlands, plenty of long 200 mile days in various directions.
Went to france /Belgium in August but 30+deg I didnt fancy bike gear traipsing around war sites and Air bases so took the convertible(nearly the same )
Went to Longyearbyen , Svalbard in January. An epic few days on Snowmobiles, huskysleding and a snowcat Northern lights and due to 22hrs of Darkness and 2hrs of pink light ,full lunar eclipse

"The trails of the world be countless, and most of the trails be tried.
You tread on the heels of many, till you come where the ways divide.
And one lies safe in the sunlight, and the other is dreary and wan, Yet you look aslant at the Lone Trail, and the Lone Trail lures you on....
....Bid good-bye to sweetheart, bid goodbye to friend, The Lone Trail, the Lone Trail, follow to the end.
Tarry not, and fear not, chosen of the true;
Lover of the Lone Trail, The Lone Trail waits for you"
