Re: European breakdown cover
Have you any with your bike insurance? I use Carole Nash and it comes with EU wide breakdown cover. But if you have cover with your insurance or end up buying separate cover watch in case its restricted to bikes no more than 10 or 15 years old if you are using older bikes.

Re: European breakdown cover
I too have Carole Nash which included Europe wide breakdown cover, but for some reason this year’s policy only has UK breakdown cover. Not sure why, perhaps I ticked the wrong box when renewing. Phoned Carole Nash and was informed they couldn’t add it to my current policy, but would need to cancel it and take out a complete new policy. Can’t be arsed, just though I’d take out an AA 5 Star type 14 day cover and was after some recommendations.

www.breakdownassist.co.uk
I bought single trip cover from these guys this summer but can't comment on it's effectiveness as despite my greatest efforts the Guzzi ran faultlessly, cover provided by Axca so had some degree of confidence.

I've used www.qdosbreakdown.co.uk before. Very efficient when I came off my bike and broke my clutch lever then missed my ferry home.

Re: European breakdown cover
They appear to have royally shafted a guy who had severe engine problems on the KTM forum. Seem to have pretty much left him in Spain. Appears to be a value to cost calculation that didn’t go his way.paul_tim2000 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 02, 2018 7:16 am www.breakdownassist.co.uk

Ok, only one experience and it could have more to it but I wouldn’t go near them based on that.
I have always been with Britannia Rescue / LV= but have fortunately only needed them once and they were fine.

Another one who uses Britannia Rescue, and who's been happy with the once I needed them. They also cover older bikes, eg airhead BMW's which is why I started off with them.

I use their Personal policy so any vehicle you are in/on is covered.Oop North John wrote: ↑Mon Sep 03, 2018 7:13 am Another one who uses Britannia Rescue, and who's been happy with the once I needed them. They also cover older bikes, eg airhead BMW's which is why I started off with them.
I would check the t&Cs carefully and even ring them to confirm first.

Re: European breakdown cover
I've had a bad experience with the European repatriation cover provided by Carol Nash with my policy. They did repatriate my bike and they did repatriate me as well, but it wasn't a good experience and it was costly. One thing to note is that the European Breakdown cover is provided by a third party, as Carol Nash are a broker so you're not dealing with them if the bike can't be fixed. In fairness, the initial response from Carol Nash themselves was good but it all went downhill once it was taken over by the actual insurance company who handled the repatriation.
