We are going hull to zebrugge on the 31st of this month all meals and a cabin £216 return.booked through nuts travel that's for bike and rider.
Re: What the hell is it with ferry prices.?
Not me mate, they can stick that price right up their hoop.
I`d drive via the tunnel and sleep in laybys before I paid 500 odd quid for a crossing in some shitty cabin that wouldn`t qualify as a 30 bucks hotel room.

Driving down to southern Spain with the wife and the dog for a month in July this year via Plymouth Santander ferry, damned expensive. But when you look at the cost of the Eurotunnel, motorway tolls and overnight stop offs, fuel etc, not a lot of difference. You pay for the convenience I guess.

I can get from Flix to Calais in around 16hrs, whereas it takes 5hrs to drive to Bilbao to catch a 24-27hr ferry. Sure, France is boring when it's somewhere you need to cross in a hurry, but it's easier than the ferry which I find mind-numbing.
Current bike is a Yamaha T7

On the plus side, a 4 berth cabin is the same price as a 2 berth cabin on P&O so may as well have the extra room

Most 4 berth cabins are just 2 berths with a top bunk.
I do agree on the preference for a ride through France.
However the Brittany Ferries 'Pont Aven' is a good ship to travel on. It also operates Cork to Roscoff for easy travel from Northern Ireland. I use it regularly and meet a lot of people taking ferry into Larne or Belfast and on to Cork [motorway the whole way] instead of negotiating the routes down to the south coast of England. Also routes from Dublin [motorway all the way] and Rosslare [motorway most of the way]. You can leave Scotland into Belfast on a morning sailing, get on the same afternoon ferry to France for an overnight crossing and arrive in France next morning. Cork Roscoff docks at 7am. The other routes dock around 11am.

The 2 berths I've been in are top and bottom bunk. The 4 berth are 2 top and 2 bottom bunk. Wider cabin.
I can only comment on the P&O Hull ferry routes.

That's the way I try to look at it too. I'm a 300 mile ride south just to get to Newcastle and I know it's expensive but from that cost I deduct using up two extra days holidays just to trudge through England to the south coast, two nights accommodation and 700 extra miles of fuel and tyre wear and it doesn't seem so bad.Spike941 wrote: ↑Tue May 15, 2018 10:12 pm Driving down to southern Spain with the wife and the dog for a month in July this year via Plymouth Santander ferry, damned expensive. Re: What the hell is it with ferry prices.?
That was my mind-set for my last ferry trip for the Izi rally in Poland in 2016. 4 hrs to Harwich but the £200 saved went towards the extra fuel to get down there and thence into the Europe spending pot. The Stena Line ferry from Harwich was much better than the P&O out of Hull - no booze cruise morons and truck drivers getting wankered to the god awful acts in the entertainment lounge. Just normal people and families - much nicer atmosphere on board. Still overnight with a good sleep so I could crack on the next morning. Will do it again even though its a longer journey there and backsprintster wrote: ↑Wed May 16, 2018 11:48 am That's the way I try to look at it too. At least you have ferries...
The only place I can get to is Denmark or drive all the way to Oslo and get a ferry to Kiel.
Chunnel isn't exactly cheap either. But that was with a car...
