I'm not a spend thrift but I don't even bother to look at the price of petrol. If my bike needs it,it will get it.I would never not do a trip because the price had gone up a few Euros. You only live once!

Two things,

1) oil price up due to usual middle east troubles, and the 'cant' Trump isn't helping in this regard....

2) extra tax on diesel each year here in France, think it went up about 10-11 cents a litre beginning of year. They've realised its a smelly dirty, polluting thing after all these years of encouraging diesel cars.....and guess who's paying for their mis-judgement....

Well us french residents have been doing the opposite for years - i.e. filling up in Dieppe/Calais etc just before driving over to the UK - because diesel in particular has been a fair bit cheaper here for years.

We're off to Spain today and we'll be filling up there as soon as we cross over.

As Nick says very well, it's time for things to change so I don't object to the French 'policy', but most of the rises are down to the Trump/Iran/Syria mess.
