D902 FRANCE x 2

Post by vRSG60 »

We all know the D902 forms a large part of RDGA but there's another D902 in France which seems to run from Lodeve NW of Montpellier to Rodez !

Can there be 2 roads in France with the same number?

The simple answer is yes, all roads starting with "D" are Departmental roads, named and maintained by the Department.
In this instance Rodez is in Department 12 Aveyron.
All Departments in France are numbered, a bit like the U.K. and County names.
Hope that helps explain.

Thanks Will. It's just that in the UK road numbering is unique & that is what threw me.

Yep, our local road is the D5 and there’s bleeding hundreds of them all over France.

I like this one......we are going down there for 3 weeks at end of May and only yesterday I was researching that route as we will be meeting someone at Lodeve. We are staying in St Leon sur Vezere [24], west of Rodez. We are also planning a route via Tarn Gorge. We have a very cheap municipal camp site and just leave stuff there and take a night or two at hotel instead of moving it all.
