So far, riot police have been deployed in a number of areas and several people have been injured. There are demonstrations from both pro and anti independence sides. Photos show people queuing as far as the eye can see in order to vote.

The Catalan government rolled out an online referendum voting system this morning, so the Spanish government has started to block internet access in parts of Barcelona.

This isn't going to go away, the Spanish government should of allowed the referendum but said the result would not change anything. Stopping people from having a say is undemocratic.

Objectively speaking .........no pics of injured policemen upholding the supreme court's rule of legal law against an illegal vote and quelling disorderly behaviour and rioting?

I'm sure there's the odd cop injured and with his/her family at home worried sick because of the above?

:D

460 now appear to have been injured  one clip on BBC news where the crowd is stood still chanting with hands raised in the air and a few police use batons on them

true I bet some of them old ladies and kids that seem to have been bloodied were right barsteards to control

But having been trained in riot control somewhat it can get a bit exciting and nerves can fray but that's where self discipline comes in dependant on orders given, the police involved are a paramilitary unit I believe. They are certainly laying the law done once and for all

I agree that families must be worried on both sides of the argument

not a good day for Spain I think

cheers Spud ;)
