Dave,

Yep. I've got the open source maps for Portugal. They work well for off road. You can download them from here:

http://alternativaslibres.org/en/downloads.php

For info, you can download the OSM or topo maps. I tend to download both and find I mostly use the OSM maps (i.e. without the contours) when on the trails as the contour lines can be distracting from the actual tracks sometimes.

I've a few different trail routes through Portugal loaded on my sat nav and on my PC, so there are plenty of options. If you want any of the routes, ping me a message with your email and I'll fire them over to you - or if you have a Garmin Montana I can transfer them on the boat in October.

Also, thats where I downloaded the morocco maps that we have used on previous trips. They are really good - miles better than the official Garmin ones.

@aliwakeskate I have an old road-only gps but I'm thinking of getting a Montana. Do you rate yours? What model is it?

Hi Dave,

I've got the Montana 600. Think there are newer ones out.

Fantastic bit of kit - especially for off road navigating. If you've not used Garmins for off road nav before it can take some getting used to and setting up, but once there it's great. I had a Garmin 60Csx before which did the job.

@aliwakeskate I have bought a 680t and it is a bit confusing so I'd sure appreciate a bit of tuition :-)
