Hi, this is a little further South than Wigton. https://www.noranbankfarm.co.uk/farmhou ... tels.co.uk
I have not stayed in the house but my son and I stayed in the bunkhouse here a couple of years ago and it was excellent. Really clean, good value and the owners were very welcoming despite us turning up on two bikes quite late in the evening. They put the bikes in a barn for us. There is a good pub about 3/4 mile walk away that does good food. If you are going in the summer you may need to book a table. The road from here to Carlisle was great on the bike.
Cheers Jak

If you're heading for Edinburgh bring your best security devices.
Unfortunately it's turned into a hotbed of bike theft.

Cheers lads. The Moffat one looks promising and their link to Motorcycle Scotland was useful too.
May avoid Edinburgh this time round. Didn't really fancy dragging the Almax chain around.
Any other recommendations welcome.

The hotel trade has taken a real hammering in the past few years because of the oil downturn around Aberdeen. Chain hotel prices will be about the same as a B&B in Dyce /Aberdeen.

Moffat already mentioned but just for the record I stayed last weekend at the Bonnington b&b in Moffat high street, very nice place and very biker friendly, the landlady own words to me, give me bikers any day of the week, its the golfers that cause me probelms! Haha!!

Moffat is now sorted. The Buccleuch was fully booked unfortunately but the Seamore House. We will be going to the Buccleuch though as their menu looks great.

Motorbike, we are hoping to surprise some old army mates in the areas we're staying hence the odd dog leg route. Edinburgh we were hoping to catch the Tattoo but may leave this for another time now.
