Re: France Perigord Noir in September
Just got back after 2 weeks by the river--nice food and wine and company--and lovely local sites and villages--a tarp, fairy lights, table and chairs-and good food and wine. Included a trip a bout a mile into a cave to see mammoth sketches etc--and an 18km kayak down the river.
Well done to Olaf for organising the site--literally 5 euros a night with great facilities--and to local ex pats Bob and Jude for showing us around and acting as a guide. Mick from Oz dropped in for a few days after a round trip in Europe--he'll leave his Guzzi in the UK and come back next year. He's just arrived back in Melbourne--and Olaf should be just docking in Ireland.

Re: France Perigord Noir in September
Sorry about that--a bit busy plus the weather wasn't brilliant--you didn't phone and I had no idea what you were up to. However, I got to see my long time friend Mike Fishwick in Daglan--and Bob and Jude who do a "bikers guide to the Dordogne", and have excellent local knowledge and history, guided us around. Day usually started with a long coffee at the Cafe de France in Rouffignac--when I could be bothered to get up "early". Just absorbed into the local pace and got to local markets etc.
