Platt's Farm Campsite at Llanfairfechan on the coast. Well placed for both Snowdonia and the Isle of Anglesey.

Can't recommend it enough. I've been camping there since I was a child, used to live a few miles away for the first 18 years of my life too.
Beautiful scenery beautiful location, good facilities, good prices, waterfalls and natural pools to swim in if you're feeling brave. Close to a town for supplies, it's a small slice of peaceful heaven.

www.plattsfarm.com cannot recommend the place enough.
I have done quite a few meets there. Good pubs vey local, shops, takeaways etc and on the breach front now is a really nice restaurant.
Great for camping and if a bit chilly you can hire a wood burner. Hard standing for bikes and the owners are very friendly................ and bike friendly B)

snowdonia recommendations please

Post by DorsetGSA »

Hi. Was in that area on a 'sleep wild' weekend with my brother in law so probably can't offer suitable lodgings!! However we rode through Elan Valley (Google Elan dams) and took the mountain road from here to Aberystwyth both of which were stunning. This was part of our route heading north from Brecon to snowdonia, so might not be what you are after??

I'm in Snowdonia now, first time on the bike properly for twelve months but can't suggest any campsites in the area as have a static caravan just outside Llanberis.
Several sites around Waunfawr just outside Caernarfon and some sites near Beddgelert. Also a big site near Llyn Gwynant on A498 just outside Beddgelert.

The Llyn Gwynant campsite is probably more suited to walkers as you are slap bang at the bottom of Snowdon. Great views but there's a lot of standing water & a lake so plenty of midges. I'm just back from 3 nights there, showers are good, you can have fires but theres nothing within walking distance. The wood fired pizzas fri - sun are excellent though (thumbs)
I'd certainly put it on the reserve list as no need to advance book
