The Grossglockner and Nockalmsstrasse.

Post by Ali in Austria »

Any Early Birds to The Alps?

Heavy late snow delayed the opening of The Grossglockner from the scheduled 29.04.2017 but today it opens - unfortunately only for 4 wheels and a requirement to have snow chains.

Hopefully the next few mild days will open it up fully.

Nockalmstrasse is fully open from today though :D

Stelvio, Timmelsjoch etc are usually the end of the month at the earliest. We have been getting heavy spring snow so it may be later this year.

As of today it is still closed to motorcycles. The weather next week looks good so fingers crossed, it will be fully opened.

Keep up to date with the road conditions here: https://www.grossglockner.at/gg/en/gros ... ssglockner
