Sacre bleu

Looks like travel in French cities has become a bit more bureaucratic:

Thank for the heads-up (thumbs) .
I can't help thinking it's a money making exercise because displaying a windscreen sticker which shows the vehicle’s emissions levels still doesn't stop the vehicle from polluting or entering the city in the first place or have I missed something?...

Glad to be of help.

I'll guess that if they have anyone to enforce it then it makes it easy for them to catch those who pollute and those who don't have a sticker. How enforceable it is on non French persons I can't guess, but if we hire a French car, then it could become expensive.

Motorcycles are banned if over a certain age......since mine is a 1984 registration looks like I am hit. But I have no plans to take it to Paris. Bordeaux though is a different matter, a place I like to visit when I go to France.

All because some guy started this train of thought with a ......'Congestion Charge'!!!

Sounds like the French are following the Germans as they have colour coded Ulmwelt stickers to signify the cars emissions, they can be bought online and in person from TUV offices the Ulmweltplakett scheme is also in force in several other countries it mainly for trucks.

The French website isn't taking orders for emission stickers until 1st February

To find the certificate that corresponds to your vehicle, you can already use the simulator
Crit'Air Vignette will open on Wednesday the 1st of February 2017.

I ride a 1984 motorcycle.

In Ireland it's classed as Vintage, being over 30 years old. So Road Tax is much less, flat rate €26 for bike and €56 for cars.

Guess what? Exempt from this too!!!

Vive la France.!!
