Speeding tickets from France
Speeding tickets from France
Anyone else had these? Car hired from Geneva, driven in France. 4 speeding tickets dropped in the postbox this morning ranging from 45 euros to 90 euros. All cameras. The original tickets have gone to the hire car firm, they have then disclosed to les flics i was driving, now i get the tickets. ffs

Not France but I've had it twice in Italy, hire company just took the money from my credit card and then informed me that I'd been caught
Quite funny when you think of the way they drive in Italy

Don't know when this was but didn't you notice that everyone else was crawling around at a snails pace?
At least you don't get the points.

The French police can not force you to pay, so just ignore them. It's part of the EU sharing of police information legislation that we didn't sign up to.

I'm not sure that's the case, it's the Hire company that's grassed Mike up, not the British Government.Tourider wrote:The French police can not force you to pay, so just ignore them. It's part of the EU sharing of police information legislation that we didn't sign up to.

Re: Speeding tickets from France
Normally the hire car company charges you an admin fee for passing on the details to the authorities.
Keep an eye on your credit card statements, as they have all the details to charge you.
I was caught in Switzerland, and had to pay in Swiss Francs!! That was a pain!!
Just don't get caught in France by a Gendarme, as I think they can check back on the driver..

France has changed, most people now stick to the limits.
All the French speed cameras I've seen have been preceded by a bloody great warning sign, the camera is usually dark grey with yellow trim tape, usually within 1/2 KM of the warning sign. It's the human operated speed traps that are usually well concealed
