Bokki Camping - for Stella Alpina

Post by Monster »

Hi All

There appears to be something funny happening with Bokki Camping

I was interested to book up for this year's Stella Alpina weekend but .... ?

The English version of the website looks normal but no one is answering emails or the phone

A Swiss friend was told that they are shut and may not reopen by Stella weekend

My Italian is zero but I also saw some sort of Facebook petition. This was found via a link on www.bokki.it

Anyone else trying to book or heard any news?

Regards

Was being nosey and noted nothing on their own FaceBook Page since Dec and no 2016 prices on their web site.

Seems very strange.

In years past they made some effort to clear a lot of the thorn bushes from the camping areas and cut back the grass. Last year it looked like this was not done and the site was nothing like as busy as previous years. Maybe they are making enough from their regular caravan business and the one off Stella camping week is not worth the effort of clearing the tent areas.
As well as the free camping area up at the refuge valley, I think there is a municipal site near to the town. check with the Tourist information office.

To anybody going to the Stella. Do take the time to go up to the fort museum above the town. It is within walking distance, (it is steep), starting at the big car park across the stream from the football field. But if you have any problems, dodgy knees etc, you can ride up the trail, go steady as there will be people on foot. The fort museum is packed with all ages of artillery and military kit. Once you are up there you can see how the fort commands the border valleys.

If you stay at the base camp would you have to decamp and carry all your camping gear up the track with you ?

Got the gist of it. Ceased operations in April? Appeals, possible new administration, all up in the air. Doesn't sound promising

Italian bureaucracy, it'll probably take about 10 years to sort that out

BARDONECCHIA - Among complaints for alleged unauthorized building and the court judgments, there are important news for the camping Pian del Colle "Bokki", culminating in the identification of a new manager. It is the only camping Bardonecchia, where currently there are about 300 owners of mobile homes. The court in Turin ruled in favor of the Municipality in the case against the company that manages the camp until April, the Bokki srl. The judge ruled that the City has to regain ownership of the land and be paid what is due: the Bokki Ltd. will pay the sum of 110 thousand euro, relating to civic uses. It is a judgment of first instance, but enforceable, then immediately applicable. Certainly it will be overturned on appeal with the appeal, but in the meantime we can and must address. For its part, the fact Bokki srl intends to appeal the ruling, asking the Court of Appeal that the compensation is suspended, as well as the re-appropriation of land to the City.

The closure of the camp hypothesis

Pending this possible new ruling of the judges, there is now the question of who will manage the camp by the end of April. The City will publish a notice to locate the new managers since the summer. The risk, ventilated by city officials to campers, is that for a temporary period the camp can be closed, after 40 years in business, just as part of the sentence, which provides for the reinstatement of the land by the municipality. Would be less electrical power, lighting, water, heating, cleaning, surveillance and security guard of the structures and especially of Campers goods. Nor would it be allowed to attend or stay overnight, in facilities owned by the campers for reasons of public safety.

Mayor: "We are thinking of a staging, in order not to close the camp"

But the Borgis administration intends to find a solution: "We are planning to establish a temporary form of management from May, in order to keep open the camp also in the vacant period - Borgis reassures the mayor - it would be a temporary solution, which falls within limits established by law, but that allows campers to continue to stay in Pian del Colle ". All this is obviously still in the conditional, but the intention of the City would be to assign from May until the summer and its management to a "Campers Committee", a pending management-bridge that the new individuals the manager notice definitive. So that the camp is still accessible to the owners, without damaging the tourism and owners of mobile homes Pian del Colle. A choice is essential, otherwise the campsite may not be accessible for security reasons, but at the same time if it were left unattended, it risks vandalism and problems.

The complaints for alleged unauthorized building of mobile homes

The other issue that weighs on camping regards the alleged unauthorized building inside it. Some campers have been sued for buying of mobile homes directly from Bokki society. The case if they are occupying the municipal police and the State Forestry. "The City is making the checks - the mayor - on some of the areas where there are mobile homes, but that would not be used for camping, because near the river areas. Even in this case is not the fault of the campers, who would have bought the houses in good faith, unaware that there were constraints on the land. We will know more at the end of the checks. "

The managers are alarmed: "You risk the closure. You do decide to new administration "

For its part, the company Bokki Ltd. wrote a letter to the City Council, which warns that "If the City Council will make the decision of reinstatement of Commons very hardly be able to collect the amount claimed in the short term (due to the use on appeal and the request for suspension). If such collection could, there would still be a high possibility of having to return to short this sum, however, nullifying the economic benefit of the action of reintegration (tipping possibility on appeal of the judgment). " Moreover, again according to writes the Bokki Ltd. "Resolution of reinstatement of Commons most likely lead to the closure of the camp Bokki perhaps for years, causing: a secure economic damage to municipal coffers of 36,000 € / year for failure to collect the fee occupation of the land that the Bokki Ltd. punctually versa, in addition to several thousand euro for the non-collection of tax and the rent of the local Bar. An economic damage to about 300 families of campers, damage to the campsite facilities and campers to carelessness, maintenance, vandalism and theft. A tourist offer impoverishment and image of Bardonecchia, which would lose the only camp that hosts tourists in transit, especially foreigners, who for years has come back on time. An impoverishment for all Bardonecchia businesses that benefit from the presence of nearly 300 families of campers. The local loss of 6 employees work Bokki Ltd., 3 of whom live in the upper valley. " According to the camp managers, therefore, the Borgis administration should "leave the burden to the next administration to make decisions, which then in any case will have to manage the consequences. This could be considered a due decision, correct and flawless. "
