According to one Insurer I was getting a bike quote from last week, UK breakdown cover works in Republic of Ireland, so it might be as easy to get yourself a year's worth of cover for 50 quid or so...?

Later... The quotes I refer to were from Cornmarket brokers and Bikesure, both as part of an add on package to bike insurance. Neither had the Bike Over 10 year exclusion, so often found either (thumbs)

You would need to check as my RAC cover only covered me for N Ireland. Needed extra for the Republic.

Hi

I have the very basic rac roadside breakdown cover for £29 per year and i have used it twice for my van in the republic of ireland. No cost Eire is included. I am resident in N.Ireland so i dont know if that makes a difference. But dont buy an expensive policy just yet dig around you may well find out you are covered!

Auto Aid is the cheapest ,you ring them and they arrange a third party to recover you ,you pay with a credit card and stick a claim form in and get the money back within 10 days ,£39 for a year in any vehicle you travel in or on ( bike )
