Recommendations for roads in Southern Ireland.

Post by Ginger »

Merry Christmas Guys,

As I am working all the chrimbo and New Year period I have a few days R&R coming up and fancy nipping over to Ireland on the ferry for a bimble about.

Oddly enough, having ridden in many places around the world I have yet to roll a wheel on the Emerald Isle.

My rough plan is to get the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin on the Friday morning. Then return Rosslare to Pembroke on the Tuesday morning.

I am thinking of heading towards Sligo / Galway then round the west coast heading south round to Cork and then to Rosslare.

Just a nice easy ride.

SO - which are the good roads, the quiet glens, the out of the way places, the good things to see?

All suggestion gratefully received,

Andy.

If you're heading towards Galway, off the top of my head come up from the south west and travel along the south coast (Kinsale to Bantry) then The Ring of Kerry onto the Wild Atlantic Way seems a good choice.

Plenty to see along these routes; look out for Brown signs that direct to heritage sites and scenic routes.

WAW it is then! I have just downloaded the app to my iPhone and its got some great information in it.

I think in the time I have I will pick it up at Sligo and head south.

Should be good!
