Heading towards Black Forest, recommendations for places to stay.

Post by Tonytriumph »

Hi

Me and the Bonnie are heading towards the Black Forest in August, via Calais, I want to check out Verdun and a few other war memorial sites before heading on through Germany. So any recommendations for accommodation would be gratefully received.

( I have 2 full day routes around the Ardennes and one for the Mossel Valley if they are of any use to you. Cracking routes )
Enjoy the B500 ,

This place was lovely the only thing was a lack of places to eat in the evening the roads in the area are just great soooo much more than just the B500 the roads off to the sides are excellent

Have fun

What sort of places do you have in mind?

The suggestions so far include the cheapest French chain hotels (F1) and Brit run B&B's. If these suit you, you're done.

We've got this place booked for 4 nights in July and though I can't say yet if it'll be any good or not it looks ok.

Do the B500 because it's an essential part of being there and make sure you do it in both directions but some of the minor roads in the area are much more fun. Sometimes it's worth just finding a bar or café on a nice looking corner and sitting outside with a drink watching everyone go past.

Probably the most important thing is to let anyone who comes up behind you at speed go past because there are a lot of unmarked police bikes and the fines for speeding in that area are crippling and if it's not a police bike you've lost nothing for letting them go past.

Wow, so many replies, Thanks guys,

Im really not into the formula 1 hotels, sure they're cheap enough if you want to sleep in a meccano bed, but they make you feel isolated like Billy no mates and I never feel that the bike is safe, I prefer to stay at Biker friendly places. So I will check out your recommendations.

Very thanks

I've also stayed there and would recommend it also.
