If the weather is good and you have time, try the Outer Hebrides..... Awesome.

sorry I forgot to say and only 1 hour from glasgow (thumbs) .the rest and be thankful (thumbs)
Turn left there and follow the road towards Lochgoilhead, then take the Hells glen road back out, nice little ride. Just come back from Christmas and New year there at our place with family, there's some great riding to be had round there and as Al say's only an hour from Glasgow.
Chaos is the only camouflage that incompetence needs to operate at full capacity.

I dunno where that road goes, might as well go take a look anyway there's no where else i need to be right now.

May through to Oct, take your waterproofs and midge spray. Plenty of places for camping and not usualy to hard to find a b&b. One of the best trips i had up there was in 1999, had a weeks leave and was stuck on my own,had no real idea what to do, got up the sunday morning, stuck a small bag on the bike (650 Pegaso), few clothes, map book and rode up there, had the week and did a loop from west coast round the top and back down the east coast (september)b&bing it..fantastic.

Go for it, you'll have a great time.

I usually go early September. don't book B&Bs never had a problem finding one and it allows you to do as many miles as you feel like on the day.as for midges never ever been bitten, but then I use "skin so soft" by Avon B)

i have camped alot in there and midges depend on where you camp...only ever had the odd time with them and the rest perfectly fine...they tend to be near water most of the time but not the sea usually but hey....who knows....they have a mind of there own...lol...guess i have always been lucky...anywhere along the west coast and down the north central section is good riding...the east coast is nice but not as mountainous along the coast.

but love the highlands either way it is biker heaven...
