Christmas City Break

Post by Brenhden »

Hi All,

Thinking of whisking my girlf away for a few days, flying out on Boxing day and going somewhere festive. Where would you seasoned travelers recommend?

Cheers

Bren

How about somewhere Alpine. I'm flying to Munich in January and getting the train to Berchtesgaden. From there you can take a boat trip on the Konigssee or catch the bus into Salzburg for the day.

Germany or Austria sound like winners :)

We're driving to Dresden leaving on the 28th December and coming home on the 2nd so that should be entertaining.

We looked at flying but the prices were ridiculous and the flight times/connections were poor so it made sense to use the Harwich - Hook crossing and drive over. We're lucky because Harwich is under 2 hours from home so we'll be on overnight crossings both ways then it's 500 miles or thereabouts to Dresden so easy in a day.
