Brasov, Romania. One of my favorite city's at anytime of year but stunning at xmas. A cheap flight to Bucaresti and hire a car for the hour or so drive to Brasov. A nice scenic drive once you reach the Carpathians and a hire car gives you a chance to explore the area around Brasov. Maybe take a day trip to the medieval walled city of Sighisoara, birth place of Vlad Dracul (better known as Vlad The Impaler and the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula)
If you want to spoil her stay here http://bellamuzica.ro/?lang=en a great hotel and restaurant just off the main square.

Having had a bit of a think about it we will probably go with whats available from Bristol flying Friday and back Sunday. So Amsterdam, Berlin or a few others :)
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Suzuki DR200 Djebel.

Budapest is nice......lots of Christmas feel there. Vienna magical. So is Salzburg.

I treat my other half to a day out over Christmas. We organise a K bike brunch for 27th December. So a day's peace for those who stay at home and we get to do what we like best. Best of both worlds. If its icy or really wet we still do it by car. Stradbally Fayre in Co Laois....11am. The Christmas puddings are now made for it.

Bruges is very nice, easy drive from the Chunnel

Barcelona is always a good bet as long as rain not forecast

Verona is gorgeous, Rome without the tat & grime, lake Garda on your doorstep

The old town of Bergamo (up on the hill overlooking the modern city) is great for a couple of days and Easyjet fly to Bergamo airport
