Bike repatriation from France?
We went to Le Mans for 3 days over the weekend and unfortunately one of the bikes (an Aprilia Tuono Factory) developed an electrical problem due to the very heavy rain. It cut out completely between Mulsanne and Tours and we got it recovered back to an Aprilia dealer in Le Mans but they couldn't fix it. So we had to leave it there for repatriation by the insurance company in about 10 days time whilst we came back to the UK with the Aprilia owner pillion on my Fazer. Does anyone know how that repatriation of bikes works? Do they transit them individually or bulk load onto a specialist carrier? And any things to be aware of during the process? Thanks.

Re: Bike repatriation from France?
I think it depends on the company but I've always had the bike repatriated on its own but even though the dealer couldn't fix the bike on the spot I'll be very surprised if they don't do it when they've not got the pressure of the customer wanting his bike back straight away and then the owner will be expected to go back and collect it when he's paid the dealer for any work carried out.
This has been discussed very recently on here and the biggest influencing factor is how loud the owner can (and will) shout.

Re: Bike repatriation from France?
well my recent experience in portugal with RAc was both good and bad..excellent phone service from uk call centre staff..bike collected and repatriated .[supposedly] then changed there mind but offered £500 to self collect so I did and kept reciepts for a refund..
Thats another story just got off the phone today and the RAC advise was wrong about where to send my reciepts so got another address now and 6 weeks wasted..good job I kept both internat bookings and photocopys..call me carefull  ..
Herman is in France with his van at moment south of Caen so not a million miles away..worth a pm maybe

Re: Bike repatriation from France?
My bike had to be repatriated some years ago. Brand new KTM....ssshhhh.....any way they paid (KTM) for a taxi from Reims to Charles de Gaul airport, plane ticket and taxi home from Liverpool airport. Bike was taken to dealers in Rochdale, took about a week to get there as they picked a few up then come back over. Dealer sorted problem under warranty. Delivered back to my door nice and clean. Dealers not there any more ( well changed hands unfortunately )just as said by Tramp though, keep all receipts. Good luck.
