Campsites near Snowdonia

Post by HorseyBiker »

Recommend me somewhere? Ideally with a decent wash block and somewhere to buy grub within a couple of miles. I am planning only be away for 3 nights or so.

I am heading out to Anglesey in a couple of weeks to go horse shopping and feel like taking a small break at the same time. Take the Katoom for a blast around some mountain roads

This place is cool:

Its a farm and you can have fires. The wood they sell is a bit damp but if you ask nicely they give you kindling and stuff. They sell eggs from the farm and you can wander into the town which has shops, pubs, restuarants and the Snowdon Railway.

Here is my trip report:

Hope this all helps

And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Came up the A5 on Saturday to catch the ferry at Hoyhead, a great road (was not on the bike though :( )

Depends where in Snowdonia you want to be. But for me, the Cae Du campsite in Bedgellert is a favourite. Execellent washblock and facillities. My wife is particularly fussy about things like that! Stunning location also.

Pubs, cafes, local shops, and an excellent Pizza & ice cream bar in the village only a short walk from the campsite.

Go to Shell Island. The inland road via Harlech and adjoining tracks are awesome. Want to rent a cottage for a couple of nights overlooking Shell? Google Trem y Mor, Llanfair (that's pronouced Lanvier).
