A good link this - thanks Freeloadeur - well worth a look if you are considering this question. I have both the Halifax card and the Nationwide one (I no longer use the Nationwide much - emergencies only). I'm no financial advisor, so check things out for yourself, but as I travel a lot for both business and fun, I prefer to have two cards on different networks.

I've yet to find a better card than the Halifax (even when Nationwide had fee free use) - the exchange rate is good, and it is still fee free worldwide for both purchases and cash. That said, best to transfer funds early if using it for cash, as they charge you interest from the first day (like so many others). And as I also have a current account with them, they give me (yep, give me) £5 credit on my account each month - which is nice. :cheer:
