Iceland (not the shop!)
Re: Iceland (not the shop!)
Lolo, thanks for your reply, it will be fly, but will be a 4x4 I'm afraid, it will probably be just a week, I have got away with going to India, TT and Stella recently.

"The trails of the world be countless, and most of the trails be tried.
You tread on the heels of many, till you come where the ways divide.
And one lies safe in the sunlight, and the other is dreary and wan, Yet you look aslant at the Lone Trail, and the Lone Trail lures you on....
....Bid good-bye to sweetheart, bid goodbye to friend, The Lone Trail, the Lone Trail, follow to the end.
Tarry not, and fear not, chosen of the true;
Lover of the Lone Trail, The Lone Trail waits for you"

Im doing the 'what can I fit in my panniers' jig.
I have just spent 20 minutes, packing and un-packing, deciding if I should take the extra inner of my bike jacket or my high gear jacket instead !!!!

Wow thanks for that it was brilliant. Even more excited now ( if that's possible)Don't think I'll get to see some of those spectacular views from where I'll be going on my GS but it was so wow.

Re: Iceland (not the shop!)
I started doing a bit of research yesterday after seeing this thread. Might try Iceland for 2013 if funds allow. Time and cash-wise it seems easier to fly in with camping gear
and rent a bike for 7 days.
Good luck with the trip and hope to see the photos

Re: Iceland (not the shop!)
You will love it! We found Iceland pretty damn cheap actually. Meat and beer can be expensive, but if you can ration yourself off them for your stay it's easy on a budget.
Campsite at Hirtshals port is pretty good actually, if you turn up late and leave early it's a free night.
Packing layers is a good idea, the difference between Sunny valley and windy mountain-pass temperatures can be quite large.

Re: Iceland (not the shop!)
cheers
I Like riding my own bike too much to hire one.
Im a bit anxious about missing the ferry with it only running once a week otherwise I would have camped at the port (too much girly wittering)
I don't drink beer so as long as chocolate is not too expensive I should keep in my budget
