Re: George Whites
Bad news indeed although it did used to wind me up when they advertised awesome deals in MCN and I've never once been able to et hold of one either because I'm not on supersize me, I'm not 3 years of age or they haven't had stock for some time

George Whites
Just seen this too on the MCN Facebook page. Shocking news indeed. If a big firm like this has gone bust, what hope is there for the smaller independent dealers?

Shocking news and unexpected, at least for me.
I hope the ex staff don't have much trouble finding themselves new work.

Re: George Whites
This is the 3rd recession i have been through and its by far the worst.
Think Whites just over stretched themselves in the last couple of years, i mean an outlet in Bodmin !! Cornish are tighter than Yorkshiremen and Jocks put together  , then Torbay, Donnington, Plymouth too much in a recession.
I feel for the guys and girls who have lost their jobs and wish them the best in finding new ones.
The only possible upside i can see is the independants and small operators may see a bit more trade now the biggest is not there to compete with, shouldn't have much effect on competitive pricing as there is still no one buying unless the pricing is mega keen.
Worryingly i dont think they will be the last
The saviour in more ways than one maybe when the dicks in Westminster loadup the price of petrol this year, maybe see the new generation of frugal 50/125cc bikes making a come back which would see biking being a cheap form of transport again (anyone remember that !!)

Re: George Whites
Serious news for the industry. I'd imagine the fallout from this could damage a number of distributors and suppliers, maybe fatally. Plus, judging by the amount of advertising they've had in MCN over the past month or so our friends up in Peterborough will be taking a big hit too.
