George Whites - in Administration
Re: George Whites - in Administration
I would guess that at this stage they have simply filed Notice of Intent to appoint an Administrator.
This gives the Administrator 2 weeks to find a new buyer for the business so "George White" as a brand may still survive; only owned by new owners and almost certainly in a slimmed-down format.

Remember them? I used to work for them?
got out before it all went pop, but Mr G the boss spent some time in a Spanish nick after.
It's an interesting story, but quite a long one.

I think HG is in a stronger position than most because the mainly sell stuff produced either by them or for them. You only have to look at their sale offers, rarely is Alpinestars or the like offered at good discounts, only their own brand. I'm lucky as I have a good local independent store which I try and use when ever possible, but as we all know money talks.
Finally back on a GS
Re: George Whites - in Administration
...also HG is franchise operation; as a consequence business failures are more likely on a branch-by-branch i.e franchisee level rather than the whole structure

As my customers never used to tire of telling me
"the only things that burnt that Mr G didn't claim for were the 5 gallons of paraffin and the lighter."
Of course, Mr G was on holiday in Spain at the time...
...the burnt MX bikes were MotoGoris, IIRC.
