Scotland 24th AUG + week
Wasn't sure where to put this but anyway, simple question here: Two of us are heading up to Scotland West coast next week on a test run for one of the bikes we've built and would like to hit some light trail riding along the way plus wild camping spots. As neither of us like slab so we're trailering them so far and would like a safe place to store the van and trailer around Loch Lomond/ Trossachs area, biker friendly campsite maybe, any recommendations please...???

Update: Looking on the map spotted a good starting point around Aberfoyle / Dukes Pass ....???

Stayed a night here last year. The site was fully booked but the owner allowed us to park our bikes and pitch our tents at the front. £10 for the night and we could avail of the facilities there. Great food & a bar also. Not far from the Dukes Pass

Re: Scotland 24th AUG + week
Gents, had the Dukes Pass recommended by Ed on HU, what can be expected up there, any offroad trails to wander up etc..??? Just rang the national park and wild camping pass's are £3.50 a night within the boundaries which is bang on cheap and stops hassle. Maybe there's no need to wander any further than the Trossach's afterall....!!

There is the Three Lochs forest drive - just off the Dukes Pass. It's an un-surfaced forest road. There are also limited wild camping spots (pass required )along the drive too.
On your way up - there is also the Raider Road in Galloway Forest - another unsurfaced forest road - might be worth considering
Also Loch Doon at the north end of Galloway Forest. You can wild camp there & there is also a bit of unsurfaced forest road.
