FWIW I've recently finished from a couple of months work in St Petersburg, didnt get to venture much further than the city outskirts so can't comment on that, its a very busy place you'd need to keep your wits about you but i wouldnt let it put you off, we didnt experiance much in the way of hostility its a popular tourist destination they're kind of used to us. Last hotel we stayed in was near the centre/banks of fontanka river? S.African guy left his loaded up G.S outside for a good few days without issue before departing to Moscow. Hope this alays any fears have a Great trip

I believe SHarper and his oppo has done a very similar trip, recently talked to them about Norway and they stated they would love to go back so it may be worth pinging them a message.

I'm looking at doing Lofoten in May ish time

cheers Spud ;)

If it helps, I did that trip in reverse mostly last year. Ukraine, then into Russia (Moscow then St Petersburg) then into Finland, Sweden and Norway, then home.

Russia was fine, I stuck to the main roads mostly though. Normal language problems and cultural things, but I would (and will) do it again, always good fun.

Awesome. I've done it about 4 times on the bike now, hopefully again next year. Anything you want to know? Deano and I have been a lot (Not together mind you)
