Re: Cramp in my hands
"...The position of hand on bars helps...rotate forward or backwards to find comfy position..."
Can you rotate the brake and clutch levers around the bars? I had a similar problem many years ago. Eventually I realised that the position of the levers was forcing me to ride with my wrist bent backwards. Moving the levers to a lower position allowed my wrist to straighten and solved the problem.

Re: Cramp in my hands
Hi Steve, do you grip your bars tightly? this can cause cramp. Obviously you need a tight enough grip to have control of the bike but your hands should be relaxed at the same time.

Is it bike specific Steve? If the BMW is doing it to you but the TTR is not then its ergonomics but I suspect its not. As a side note when I raced I had to over hydrate before or I cramped up especially after the race and I found lower salt in the food the day before helped, no pizza or Chinese food for example.
The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.

Re: Cramp in my hands
all very good replies
like already said .. I think its simply gripping too hard …. and TOO LONG .. in one position
it may be age related too
as I get it in the legs a lot lately (oap)
[[and I think that is made worse from crimping the blood supply to the legs (by the edge of the seat)]]
.. so it could be the same with the hands .. tight grip for a long time = less blood flow
so loosen up old chap

Re: Cramp in my hands
As you know, we've had this conversation a few times Steve.
Current theories:
1) Drink quinine. But the dose present in Schweppes tonic these days is too low to make much difference. You'd need over 30 G&Ts to have an impact. By which time the problem has gone away...
2) Eat bananas. Potassium is a good thing before a ride.
3) Stop wanking.
4) Take multivitamins. A good idea anyway.
5) Drink Dill juice or pickled onion vinegar - yuk.
6) Drink lots of water before a ride, not just during.
7) Take anti-cramp tablets (basically potassium and sodium supplements).
8) Stop wanking.
9) Don't drink alcohol the night before a ride - OK, forget that one...
10) Stop wanking.
