So for a newish bike you need E10?

Hi Brenhden - this is the text that accompanied the article (in a french motoring mag):
C'est pour bientôt. Pas de bêtises, E10 pour les plus récentes et E5 pour les autres.
Which basically says: use E10 for more recent vehicles and E5 for the others.
Not my words. I have no idea. I'm sure more advice will be coming out soon given that the changeover is just over a week away.

E stands for ethanol mix to petrol so e5 is 5% and e10 is 10% would we actually notice any difference I'm sure it'll be like shell ultimate 98 over shell fuel save 95 only noticeable difference is the 20p a litre more they cost

Always use e5.... Never e10 or it will cause problems.... Some pumps still label 95 sons ethanol some non ethanol.... But i wouldnt trust the garages.... We just paid 1.58 euro per ltr for gazoil. In Rouen.... Im still crying.... As we paid 1.42 euro in saumur.... And we needed 120ltrs...

There have been rumours that the E5 and E10 fuels are not good for plastic fuel tanks if left over a period of time.
There's a;so been some suggestions that they are not as 'eco friendly' as has been claimed due to the production processes.

Ok, Oxygen itself doesnt burn but then again nothing burns without oxygen, not sure what your trying to say catricitus?
Personaly I hate the stuff (Ethanol, not oxygen, I actually am quite fond of oxygen), it messes with my fuel lines encourage fuel vapour lock and tastes shiite

The oxygen in alcohol is where the extra power comes from when using it at the correct ratio, I've had it running out of the exhaust and the bikes still running fine but it's still better at the correct ratio.
