With the cancellation of the Welsh Road Race in August I’m still heading to Wales and will be doing the Snowdonia and Wales in a weekend routes from here but when browsing I found this route too :

A group if us took in part of that route on our way down to the West Wales Rally a couple of years ago.

Great roads and scenery - well recommended

The ride report is in the Ireland Regional Group.

Part of that route takes in the B4518 Llanidloes to Macynlleth. That direction is best. Great views towards Snowdonia on a clear day! But ride it both ways
Also the B4405 Tywyn northwards past Tal y Llyn lake. Part of the 'Mach Loop' is recommended.
Personally,in addition to above,I'd find time to visit Rhayader..Elan Valley. Also Llyn Brianne dam,just North of Llandovery.

yes .. anywhere around that area is fab .. but so is all of mid and north wales.

there are tarmac roads along .. as already stated, .. but the Glyndwr way is a pedestrian ramber thing.
I passed close to it on my crf250L while getting lost near a very large windfarm .. I may have a pic of the area close to it?

that may be the Glyndwr way in the back ground/horizon ... or close to it.

I wouldn't miss out the u/c road between Llanwchllyn and Trawsfynydd , well worth a look- I always do it when up Bala way

Paul, I've just looked that road up on Street View, it looks awesome, I try to get up there at least once a year, will definitely look that one up.

Paul (inbont) knows some really fab routes up that way

Silly question time but I take this route posted here in the GPS section takes you along it’s rough trail but on roads suitable and legal for bikes?

it looks like tarmac roads to me EG B4518
mostly B roads
(but this is not the walkers trail, it seems?)
(not the true Glyndwr way .. I think where owain Glyndwr gathered his welsh army to fight the horrid English)
I recognise a lot of those village names, and they have roads in/out (even in wales)
and have been on a lot of them.

you can get to those villages all right, but not sure if you would have to skirt around the walkers track? ?
