A CZ 175 Trail, which was the first bike I ever bought, purchased from a dealer in central Cardiff for under £300 brand new. The colour co-ordinated with my lime green and black hooped socks at the time.

Was the dealers in City Road? there used to be loads of them on that road back then , I don't think there's one left now

Yes Bob it was on City Road and you got to test your purchase by riding up and down the gully at the back.

First off road bike was a 1978 Maico MC400. First road bike after my Puch Maxi was a 1979 Suzuki TS250ER(this seemed a bit tame after the Maico!)

First "bike" I ever bought was a Phillips Gadabout moped ...about 14 at the time and the bike was nowhere near roadworthy. Used to ride it around the garden chewing up the grass, much to Dad's annoyance! I did think about making it roadworthy, but getting parts was a problem even then (and yes, Bob and Alun, I did try the various dealers on City Road, but to no avail!) A bit later I was given a Pluvier (???) moped which never ran. At 16 I bought an Isetta 300plus bubble - not quite a bike, but a "provisional" bike licence covered it ;) It had to go when the MOT was due - I couldn't afford a new tyre and battery which it needed :(
I wish I had pictures of all these.
