So you are waiting at the side of the road for your mate to come and do not want to keep the engine running.

Flick on the kill switch and switch on the ignition, sit in gear, rear light and front side lights are on.
If you want low beam on at the front, you have to start the bike and then flick on the kill switch.
When your mate arrives, clutch in, flick the kill switch off and hit the starter, away in seconds with no need to fiddle about with keys.

Now is this a design feature or a bike "characteristic".

The first two operations require an opposable thumb (well for me they do).

May be a daft question but once the bike is off and not running why keep the kill switch on why not switch off and wait. then all you have to do is clutch in starter button and gone.

If the bike is running and you hit the kill switch, the low beam remains on, if you switch on the bike with the kill switch on, only the side lights are on and you take a lot less power out of the battery.
