2 and a bit weeks ago I bought a New (well 2013 but never left the show room) Moto Guzzi 1200 sport. Just a week ago I was out for a ride with Mrs Fox on the back and about an hour out of bristol I felt the back wheel feel a bit funny, Mrs Fox climbed of and I got the bike off the road.
I find a 4inch wood screw in the back wheel and damage to the side of the rim.
I find out today the damage inside is probably not repairable, and the wheel wont hold a tyre as the wheel is magnesium and a new wheel is going to cost £800. First new bike I've had in my life.
I guess we can count ourselves lucky that we weren't thrown off the bike.
Well that Sucks

Screw is steel rim is magnesium, Steel is stronger than magnesium.

Re: Well that Sucks
That could be repaired by a competent magnesium welder, a quick google turned up a couple worth checking out in the Bristol area.
If you order a new one, I bet it has to be ordered from the factory, in Italy, which will be closed for August.

It appears that according to my paperwork I forgot to Protect my NCB last time around, probably not worth chucking away 8 years of NCB for.

just looking at the pics of the wheel, have a look at other manufactures wheels something close, they may fit with some machining or spindle, will be a lot cheaper. this wheel looks like it could have come of most of the Suzuki range, busa, gsxr, tl etc you will be amazed what actually fits

Re: Well that Sucks
It looks to me like it has chewed a little of the outside of the rim. I would get the tyre off and see if the bead area is ok.
