What an idiot, Who wants to put a 250mm+ tire on anything other than a Harley???

I agree with dealers ripping you off and monkeys for mechanics - I never use dealers for service/repair work...

that brings us to repairs and breakdowns- He Complains about having to get a foreign bike towed long distance... Why get a Jap bike towed? Do Harleys break down less often??? (sorry think i just wet myself at the thought of an American arguing that point with me)
Just because 'Merican bikes have been the same basic design for 6 decades a badly trained chimp could rebuild a Harley engine... Trust me they can- I have!

And the whole "Discontinued" model thing grips my sh**... Yes non-'Merican makers progress the development of their bike thus making the last model discontinued but the new one more refined/faster/lighter/tougher ect.
Buy H-D decided "You know what Buddy... I like this tractor like agricultural feeling, just like plowing the field- lets not bother making it any different next year" (Circa 1935)
The latest H-D mainstay engine (apart from the water cooled V-Rod thing that most H-D owners hate) is the Evolution engine which was developed in the 80's- I have a 1983 CX-500ec... I'm going to turn it into a race bike and take on Rossi next year, everyone get one and join me!

The whole German bike built in Japan pi**'s me off to. YES IT'S CALLED OUT SAUCING! and 'Merica started it! I'm not a fan of BMW bikes or cars, but every vehicle manufacturer these days gets it's parts made all over the world, and if it's electrical and not made in China I'd be amazed. He thinks 'Merican manufacturers would be any different.

I'm so going to go have a pint and relax after this rant... Sorry.

The cheapest model is a Sportster Iron with a manufacturers list price of a fiver short of £7k
The most expensive is a CVO Limited at a fiver short of £30k

There seems to be plenty of choice between £12k & £18k but don't try to make out that a Harley is an affordable bike for most people, especially after claiming earlier that they hold their prices.

I suppose a direct comparism with Ducati would mean putting the cheapest Sportster against the cheapest Monster and guess what, they're exactly the same price. There's no point in comparing a track bike against anything Harley make so scratch the Panigale but the dearest Diavel is around £16k so comparable with plenty of mid range Harleys.

So anyone that can afford a Harley can afford a Ducati. That CVO range seems to be a bit of a joke and I can't see them being a particularly good seller at that price :pinch:

So why didn't you take it on your round the World trip?

That's not a piss take by the way; you obviously like the bike and you could fix any problems by the side of the road so why opt for a Tenere with their fall apart wheel bearing and easy seize brakes?

I wouldn't pick a Harley because I've not had one for over 20 years so it'd be a steep learning curve but apart from that the biggest reason would be every local villain trying to nick it which is less likely to happen with a Tenere.

Wasting your time Daz, some of these ABR's just would not understand, I read on here of approx 140 Norfolk to Kent on a 125 being a 'real' adventure, another permanently on 'L' plates, 1 'lost his mojo?' and was going to give up, numerous moaners about horse shite on the roads, more interested in bling for the bike, another appeared to need an overnight stop from Scotland to Derby.....the list goes on, and as you know the 'Harley Knockers' usually have never owned or even ridden a HD.

There was quite a funny quote from the marketing manager of Indian where he said he accepted it was difficult to win converts to a 'new' make when the target market had tattoos of the logo of the established rival make!
