Welcome.
Which bit of South Island?
Had a month in NZ two years ago and planning to come back next February/March.
Might get chance to hire a bike for a couple of days this time...we had the cyclones last time so lots of damage, sadly.

This was shot at the Rakaia Gorge, in Canterbury. One hour SW of Christchurch. Nice ride!

You are a lucky man to live there, especially now , welcome to the forum. I've been to NZ a few times ( Rellies) the North island is very nice, but it didn't take long driving from Picton to Nelson on the first leg of our 3 week South Island trip with the Grand Kids to realise that the South Island would be GOOD riding country. Lovely what I call coaching routes, developed in the days of horsedrawn traffic , gentle sweeping bends, roads that follow the lie of the land, rather than bulldozed through it. Not now, but one day.
