Thanks for all the replies! The dr350s look decent, and cheap I know they have the extra gear but could I do 100 motorway miles and not be crying by the end, does the extra power and better suspension of the Drz justify spending an extra grand?

With them both being old bikes I doubt I'll be able to test drive them, especially because I'll have to cut the seat out or lower them an inch or two!

I've owned a DR350S, and it was quite capable of 100 mile trips on the road...mine took me to Morocco, including crossing Spain in two days. Mind you, my seat was uncut.

I've got a CCM 404, which uses the DR-Z 400 engine...believe it or not it's far worse on fast roads than the 350...revving its nuts off because there's no sixth gear.

See if you can find a DR250 instead...it has a nifty feature where you can drop the fork ride height while on the bike!

Or...find a Beta Alp 4.0...DR350 engine in a low chassis.

I've had a DR350SE and a DRZ and I would choose a 350 if I was in the market.

I fitted both we with concept seats and they make the world of difference on a long ride. I took the 350 all the way through France over 3 days and it was fine.

might fit the bill for you. Providing its mechanically sound, it's not bad value given all the extras.

Not seen the bike myself, so can't offer any comment on its condition.
