Aprilia Pegaso 660 opinions please

Post by Tink »

I'm going to look at a 2009 Aprilia Pegaso 660 and was wondering if any one has owned one?

Anything to look out for on them? Any problems?
How long have you owned yours?
Is it comfortable?

I use it every day summer and winter as my commuter and weekend ride. I bought a set of pannier rails from Poland so it is good for weekend rallies. At about 3000 revs you get a surge up and down, its well documented in the forums. I have had it for about 18 months now. I am a short ass 5'4" so fits me well, not sure how comfortable it would be for a 6 footer., but I can ride all day and be comfortable. I bought a small screen of ebay for it so the wind protection is quite good. I have not had any issues with the bike at all.

I had the earlier version with the Rotax engine.

The most reliable bike I have ever owned.

And that late 2000s model uses the same engine they use in the Yamaha xt660 range, which has a proven track record over the years.

I think there may have been an issue with the fuel pump on the Yam-engined model. But the Yam engine is very well-established as a bullet-proof unit, and I've found Aprilias to be at least equal to the Japanese makes in terms of fit finish etc (there's an RSV 1000 in my garage).

Most Aprilia dealers are not the best, but this one is fantastic...

Plus...every Aprilia I've ridden (Peg, Dorso, 450 enduro V-twin, 1000 v-twin) has had an indefinable quality of excitement about it.

I've read on a few forum's that they can have fuel pump problems, has anyone had this issue? If so how expensive is it to fix?
