Lack of maintenance Image
Not lack of maintenance, but I'm not going in to that here.
It was down to bad luck.
It's an old tale, and the cause is well known.

It was a light hearted joke dan
No offence taken. I remember the incidence with the great humour that abounded at the time.
Some people though just jump to the wrong conclusions as to that cause -as did we at the time as the bike was so well maintained 😂

Mine still going well, 19 in June with 70k on it......

Enjoy yours....
Thank you. That's looking cracking. Nervous about buggering up the wiring when I actually decide on which spotlights to get for mine. I'll be doing quite a bit of night time commuting!

Spotlights are a doddle to wire up wether you take a feed off your side lights or aux ports if available or wire through a switch with relay etc worst you can do is blow a fuse

I've read comments and also tried to read diagrams but when not particularly skilled in wiring, the idea of sourcing relays and working out all that is a little daunting, especially when I want the pots to come on only with the ignition and ideally have a dip and main capability that changes from the regular bike switch. I could be asking too much to still be a simple job but worth it I think.

I am in Hilton south derbyshire. I have a R1200gs and have fitted spots. I can send a couple of diagrams or show you the way I have wired mine in.
Have you thought about fitting HID's?
Where abouts in Derbyshire are you?
